Is the Bible Scientific?

The words "bible + scientific" get almost 20 million hits on Google.  "bible + unscientific" get close to 150,000 hits. Does the Google database support a scientific Bible? Truth is not a web database. Truth stands the most intense fiery trial. The fiery test burns away the errors and all you are left with is truth. Is the Bible scientific or not? Let's test it!

The Bible is a very ancient book - the most popular book in the world. Its words were written in an age when no could even think like Westerners. Indeed, the foundational assumption in Western science was not accepted dogmatically until more than a thousand years after John wrote Revelations. Seventeen hundred years ago educated Christians followed Plato's version of science. Plato was a pagan philosopher. About 750 years ago some educated monks advocated that Christians should switch to Aristotle's system. Aristotle also was a pagan philosopher. Aristotle wrote that we must assume that the properties of matter are fixed, not emergent. He commanded his disciples to build all knowledge on changelessness, even though none is observed. Aristotle's fundamental assumption is the historical basis for the hierarchical structure of Western science.

Several generations of scientists built the modern approach to knowledge on the assumption that matter is not changing itself, changing relationally as matter ages. Almost everything scientists do is based on this presupposition. For example, modern scientists claim to measure unchanging seconds. Yet they defined seconds using Aristotle's unchanging matter idea. They believe in unchanging seconds even though we can see the past back to the creation age. We can visually compare the rate of ancient atomic clocks with modern ones. Not a single ancient galaxy gleams with the light of perpetual motion atoms. In general, the more from the past we see a galaxy, the more its atoms clocked minuscule frequencies compared to modern atoms. How do scientists account for the fact that ancient seconds had longer durations than modern ones? They make up myths about vacuous forces and invisible matter at work in a universe that is 99% invisible. Scientists contrive invisible things to protect their creed that matter is NOT always changing itself.

Is the Bible scientific? There is not a single verse in the Bible that requires one to think with the scientific mind set. The Bible clearly contradicts the scientific creed with grammatical words. In fact, the Bible predicts that the false teachers of the last days would say "all things remain the same in being." Why then do Christian schools teach children that the Bible is scientific? They teach an amalgam of the Bible plus the Western system.

Will truth triumph over error? We can see a biblical cosmic history with our eyes. We see God's hand at work in the very way the Bible states. Isaiah 40:21-23 "Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been declared to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He it is who reduces rulers to nothing, Who makes the judges of the earth meaningless." Isaiah 40:26 "To whom then will you liken Me That I would be his equal? says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing." The Hebrew verbs tell us that He is formed the heavens and that He calls the stars to come out in unbroken continuity, to take up more volume like a tent.



This is Arp295 - a two armed spiral galaxy with spectacularly long, thin tails. The picture on the left is from the US Naval Observatory's one meter telescope in Flagstaff, Arizona. The arms lie in a plane that surrounds the nucleus. The arms are made of long streams of stars and star dust. At the end of the nearer arm is a sibling spiral galaxy. On the right is a radio telescope contour image of Arp295. Notice that the radio contours show a connection out to the sibling galaxy. They also show a connection to several smaller galaxies that lie perpendicular to the plane of the galaxy - lined up with the galaxy's spin axis.

When we compare billions of galaxies at many ranges, we see that the most ancient ones were  packed with stars, naked, without arms or appendages. At closer ranges we see how the stars came out in equally spaced globs. We follow at many ranges how these globs spread out into huge growth spirals. What we see violates every law of scientific physics. Yet it fits biblical physics and biblical cosmic history like a glove. We see with our eyes that all matter changes its properties relationally. We confirm this at many ranges because we see how the galaxies grew into huge growth spirals.

Is the Bible scientific? The visible evidence contradicts all versions of scientific reasoning. Why? Because the visible evidence contradicts the scientific assumption that atoms are perpetual motion machines. Every atom in the universe is following biblical physics. No distant galaxy shines with the light of perpetual motion atoms. Every atomic clock in the visible universe is accelerating throughout galactic history. The galactic orbits are also accelerating as the galaxies continually grow. What we see is exactly what the God of the Bible says He is doing.

Will the truth vanquish error? The Bible predicts that we will bring down the great fortress of speculative reasoning when our obedience is complete. Western science was founded upon the elementary idea of a pagan philosopher. The words of the Bible are the truth and the truth will vanquish the pagan way of thinking - science. Think about it.
